Narrator 1: In the early 1800’s there are not many Europeans brave enough to go to New Zealand.
Narrator 2: It is a land covered in bush and populated by Maori who are feared by the people they call Pakeha.
Narrator 1: There is, however, one Pakeha woman who is brave enough.
Narrator 2: We are on board the Venus with Charlotte Badger and her friend Catherine Hagerty. The Venus is sailing towards Tasmania, Australia.
Narrator 1: This is a dangerous coast, and it's even more dangerous tonight as some of the people on the ship are about to start a mutiny...
